The Great Divide: Spirituality vs. Materialism

I believe we as humans, got trapped into the biggest illusion, when we started separating the spiritual from the material.

Spirituality became something special, delegated to priests, and occasionally taken up by a few “out of this world” rebels, and all of that leading to debates on whose spirituality was superior. Meanwhile, the material world was dismissed as a sinful realm for everyone else, lost souls or uninitiated ignorants.

However, spirituality has never been separate from the material or from us, ordinary mortals. It’s an inherent feature in each and every human, created “in our image, in our likeness” Genesis 1:26 😊

Each of us is a soul in a human body, undergoing our unique experiences. Moreover, humans on Earth are the only life form through which the soul can evolve and develop. Animals are bound by their instincts, while humans have the ability to choose and exercise their will and creativity, this giving the soul a vast space to flourish.

The soul evolves by living life and experiencing various situations—sometimes through pain and suffering, sometimes through love and enlightenment, but always by shedding the superficial, taming the ego, pride, and all the inner demons.

There are numerous paths, teachings, knowledge, and practices available so that everyone can find what works for them. The ultimate goal is the same for all of us, and we can’t avoid reaching it. The only question is when and through how many winding paths we’ll get there.

For me, spirituality is not about special activities or secret practices for the chosen few. It’s a continuous process, inseparable from each of us.

Everyone is spiritual, regardless of whether they “practice” spirituality or not. Everyone undergoes “spiritual development,” whether they are aware of it or not.

The only difference is that being aware and consious of it makes the journey much easier and more interesting.

So, what is your relationship with spirituality? ❤️
